Trinidad junior minister firedPORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar has fired her junior national security minister Collin Patrap after he was detained by police for failing to take a breathalyser test on Saturday night. Prime Minister Persad Bissessar said in a brief statement that she had advised President Professor George Maxwell Richards " to revoke the appointment of Minister Collin Partap with immediate effect. Grenada PM ponders fate after no confidence voteGRENADA - Embattled Grenadian Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has been holding meetings with his close political allies pondering his next move following a surprise decision by a former government minister to file a motion of no confidence in his administration. Former foreign affairs minister Karl Hood filed the motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Thomas on Friday. It was the second such motion in a three month period. ST.GEORGE'S, Grenada - The Grenada Informer newspaper has apologized to Peter David, a senior official of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), over a headline printed in its July 13 edition. On page one of this weekend's issue of the newspaper, Grenada Informer expressed deep regrets for "any inconvenience, embarrassment, or considerable distress caused to Hon. Peter David by the misleading headline, and therefore sincerely apologizes accordingly." The offending headline read, "Peter David admits to conspiracy against leader." It was accompanied by a photo of David, the NDC general secretary who resigned from government as tourism minister in April.
